Equipment
Before you buy any equipment, make sure you try them out for fit and the clubs feel good. Like any game you need the proper equipment and golf is no different. The following list is what you will need to get started.
Clubs
Starter Set- 3, 5, 7, 9 irons, 3 wood, Driver and putter
or
Basic Set- 3, 4, 5, 6 , 7, 8, 9 irons, Pitching Wedge, Sand iron, 3 wood, Driver, Putter
Golf Balls (6 - 12)
Tees
Golf Bag
Golf Glove
Golf Shoes (Soft Spikes)
Umbrella
Few small coins (to mark your ball)
Ball mark repair tool (to fix ball marks on greens)
Golf Shirt (collared)
Golf Towel
Pencil
You can add to the above list with the following
Hybrid or Rescue Club
Fairway wood (5,7)
Gap Wedge (52 degree)
Lob Wedge (60 or 64 degree)

Keep in mind when looking for clubs, you are allowed a maximum of 14 clubs in your bag. Once you have the proper equipment, register for a golf clinic to learn the proper way to use your clubs. Then off to the driving range to practice, practice, practice. You are now on your way to enjoying the game of golf.
